GIVING TUESDAY 2025 — HELP US SAVE LIVES
This year, more cats than ever have needed our help—sick, homeless, and with nowhere else to turn. Your Giving Tuesday gift provides lifesaving care to the 500+ cats currently relying on Ten Lives Club.
Ten Lives Club has already taken in more than 3,627 cats and kittens this year—a heartbreaking record for our rescue. With over 260 moms & kittens in foster care, more than 165 cats at our main shelter, and 18 offsite adoption locations, we are currently caring for over 530 cats across our entire program.
Even with the overwhelming number of cats needing help, our team continues to work tirelessly to find them homes. So far this year, as of TODAY, 3,361 cats have been adopted through our main shelter, foster homes, and offsite locations!
But with this increase in intake and adoptions comes an increase in surrenders, illness, medical care, and staffing needs. Sick cats are arriving daily—strays with no vaccines, no veterinary care, and no safety net. With the severe shortage of low-cost spay/neuter services in WNY, cats are waiting longer for surgery, meaning they stay in the shelter longer, get exposed to more illness, and require more resources than ever before.
The Cost of Care Is Rising
Right now, more than 60 cats at our shelter are sick, many requiring daily medications and hands-on treatment. A single course of medication adds up quickly:
- Azithromycin: $3.52 per cat, per day
- Doxycycline: $3.00 per cat, per day
- Most cats need these meds for 10–14 days, sometimes longer.
This does not include the staff time required to medicate, clean, monitor, and provide extra care to these sick cats. 38 dedicated employees work around the clock—75% of their hours completely devoted to cat care, with the remaining time spent on adoptions, administration, donor support, and fundraising that keeps our rescue afloat.
